The regulated release of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) from a cell into the extracellular region. TGF-beta is mostly secreted as a large latent TGF-beta complex (LLC) containing latency-associated proteins (LAPs) derived from the N-terminal region of the TGF-beta gene product, dimeric TGF-beta and latent TGF-beta binding proteins (LTBPs).
